Climate tolerances of Philaenus spumarius should be considered in risk assessment of disease outbreaks related to Xylella fastidiosa

چکیده
Abstract The bacterium Xylella fastidiosa ( Xf ) is an invasive insect-borne pathogen, which causes lethal diseases to important crops including olives, citrus, almonds and grapes as well numerous forest, ornamental, uncultivated plants. Outbreaks of -related plant are currently occurring in the Mediterranean region, causing substantial losses various agricultural sectors. Several models have recently been published identify regions at highest risk Europe; however, such did not consider insect vectors, constitute key driver short-range spread. We fitted bioclimatic species distribution depict macroclimatic preferences meadow spittlebug Philaenus spumarius L. (1978) (Hemiptera: Aphrophoridae), major epidemiologically relevant vector responsible for spread Europe. Many Western Europe basin predicted by highly climatically suitable this vector, all where severe occurred so far. Conversely, driest warmest areas little P. . Models forecast that agricultural-important parts southern area might experience a decrease climatic suitability period 2040–2060. Areas just but optimal apparently still free outbreaks, suggesting climate tolerances partly explain current spatial pattern outbreaks should always be considered further assessments.

Staphylococcus lugdunensis; a pathogen that should be considered in Iran
Background: Staphylococcus lugdunensis is Gram-positive cocci of the staphylococcaceae family. S. lugdunensis despite having a clotting factor (wall coagulase), was classified in the coagulase negative staphylococcus group (CoNS) for lack of free coagulase. Although this bacterium is part of the human normal flora, in terms of virulence, S. lugdunensis is in second place after S. aureus. S. lug...
متن کاملIgG4-related disease should be considered in cases of hypocomplementemic immune-complex tubulointerstitial nephritis
Dear Sir, We read with great interest the paper of Gupta et al. concerning a case of hypocomplementaemic tubulointerstitial nephritis (TIN) [1]. Hypocomplementaemic immune complex TIN in the absence of autoimmune disorders is a rare condition, and only a limited number of cases have been reported, of which most have been labelled idiopathic [2]. However, in recent years, several case reports an...

Introduction: Acute rheumatic fever is an autoimmune disease that mainly affects the large joints. Early treatment of a throat infection following group A streptococcus prevents of acute rheumatic fever. Given the low prevalence of the disease, especially in a situation where there is excessive use of antibiotics in Iran, this study intends to report a patient with Acute rheumatic fever with mi...
متن کاملShould Euthanasia Be Considered Iatrogenic?
As more countries adopt laws and regulations concerning euthanasia, pediatric euthanasia has become an important topic of discussion. Conceptions of what constitutes harm to patients are fluid and highly dependent on a myriad of factors including, but not limited to, health care ethics, family values, and cultural context. Euthanasia could be viewed as iatrogenic insofar as it results in an out...

The meadow spittlebug, Philaenus spumarius L. (Hemiptera, Aphrophoridae) is a commonly found vector of Xylella fastidiosa Wells et al. (1987) strain subspecies pauca associated with the "Olive Quick Decline Syndrome" in Italy. To contribute to the knowledge of the adult P. spumarius chemoreceptivity, electroantennographic (EAG) responses of both sexes to 50 volatile organic compounds (VOCs) inc...
